Hunger Games Tweets |
This Tumblr page will expose the Hunger Games fans on Twitter who dare to call themselves fans yet don't know a damn thing about the books. |

The first thing that annoys me is her stupid entitled statement about how she “didn’t picture ANY character in The Hunger Games to be African-American”.
Please…
But then she had to go and put the icing on the cake with… “especially Rue”.

Again… she didn’t read the damn book.
For some reason I can see Thresh doing this…

You need to GTFOH with this dumb ass bull shit.
I usually Instagram these tweets but I couldn’t do it to this one without cutting off part of the convo (which I felt was important).
People have become so accustomed to the term “black” that, without it, it’s difficult to imagine a character being black in a book. Anyone remember the Blaise Zabini incident?
It makes sense that Katniss wouldn’t describe Rue and Thresh as “black”. Nobody is LITERALLY black. It’s a term born out of hatred centuries ago. She described them as dark brown, which is visually correct for the most part.
So Rue is flawed, huh?
Anybody wanna take a guess as to why she finds Rue to be flawed?
What rock has this idiot been living under? The movie comes out at the end of the month and there’s media EVERYWHERE showing the cast. Dick.
I believe him when he says he’s not making a racist comment. I just think it’s stupid that he feels the need to ask… regardless of what the book says. I’m tired of people acting like they need to verify the identify of black characters in book-to-movie adaptations.
I just realized what a strong word “should” is. It’s much different that “could” or “might”. It’s a very certain word, suggesting that there are no ifs, ands or buts.
Cinna SHOULD be white. Like how there SHOULD be 31 days in January and people SHOULD have 10 fingers and 10 toes.
I know Madison! I completely understand the pain and suffering that you must be going through! Cinna? Black? How COULD they?!?!?!?
As for your question… are there any black folks reading this that would like to respond to Madison? Do black people “Black Privilege” all of the characters in their novels?
What the hell is the point of that question anyway? She’s acting like there’s an overwhelming number of black people in the cast and that there must be some kind of conspiracy happening.
I promise you guys, I do not make this shit up. A lot of these kids sound like broken records with the whole “innocent” and “pale skin” nonsense.
What is so offensive to people about Amandla?
God, these people make me want to vomit.
The problem I have with this tweet is the usual assumption that most readers have being that all of their characters are white. Even in light of a description that suggests otherwise, it’s not enough.
This tweet was submitted to me by one of my followers. I had to look up what “hench” meant (London slang apparently for huge… muscular). Anyway, I get it. Nobody saw it coming that Cinna would be black. But come on… lighten up on the poor guy.
Meet Kathleen. She claims to have read the book, along with Rue’s description of being dark skinned. Kathleen defaulted to Rue being tanned. Whatever. Then comes the shock of her life!! Black people have dark skin too! Mind=Blown! Must go to twitter to express shock!!
I think this girl read the book thinking that Rue looked like Prim, hence white and blonde. SURPRISE!!!
